This axial (cross sectional) MRI of the brain in a person with seizures shows the prescence of heterotopci gray matter in the right frontal lobe where normal white matter should exist. This is a type of neuronal migration disorder/anomaly often associated with a seizure disorder. It is usually the result of an in uteru insult interuppting the normal migration of neuronal cells migrating from the germinal matrix region in the subependymal area to the cortical region where they should normally exist.
