Severe eczema affecting the skin on a 2-year-old boy's thumb. The child has atopic eczema and sucks his thumb which has worsened the condition. Atopic eczema commonly occurs in childhood and is an inflammation of the skin accompanied by itching and blisters. The cause is often unknown. Eczema can be treated with soothing ointments and corticosteroid drugs.
