Keratitis. Close up of a 41 year-old female patient's eye with a light, transparent membrane covering part of the eyeball. This is an inflammation known as keratitis, in this case caused by a contact lens problem. Keratitis affects the cornea, the tough outer coating of the eyeball. Symptoms include eye pain, excessive watering, blurring of vision and sensitivity to bright light (photophobia).
