Ear infection. Pus draining from the infected ear canal of a 6 year old boy. This is otitis externa, also known as swimmer's ear, an infection of the outer ear canal. It may be caused by bacteria or fungi, or even skin conditions such as eczema. Treatment is with antibiotics, analgesics and keeping the ear dry.
