Skin tumour. Light micrograph of a section through human skin containing a soft cutaneous fibroma. The skin's surface is at top. Fibromas are benign tumours of connective tissue cells. They are not harmful and are only removed if they are causing problems. In rare cases a fibroma may develop into a malignant fibrosarcoma, in which case removal and anti-cancer treatments are necessary.
