Granuloma annulare. View of the arm of a 44 year old woman affected by granuloma annulare. This is a harmless skin condition characterised by a rounded, raised area of skin which spreads with time to form a ring, as here. It is usually found on the knuckles or fingers, and less commonly elsewhere. The cause is unknown and no treatment is necessary. In most cases the affected area heals completely over a period of months or years.
