Gastritis. Light micrograph of a section through the inflamed lining (mucosa) of the stomach in gastritis. Acute gastritis develops due to excess alcohol or corrosive substance ingestion. Chronic gastritis is associated with smoking and long term alcohol abuse. Symptoms include pain, nausea and vomiting. Treatment involves ulcer healing drugs and antacids. Magnification unknown.
