Gastritis. Coloured X-ray of a patient suffering from gastritis, the inflammation of the mucous membrane of the stomach (lower right). Acute gastritis develops due to excess alcohol or corrosive substance ingestion. Chronic gastritis is associated with smoking and long term alcohol abuse. Symptoms include pain, nausea and vomiting. Treatment involves ulcer healing drugs & antacids.
