Umbilical scar tissue in the naval of a 2-month- old baby boy. This is a granuloma, a type of scar tissue. It may form in a baby's navel (umbilicus) after the umbilical cord dies and falls off. It can cause irritation and so it will be removed by methods including freezing it, chemically burning it, or using a ligature to cut off the supply of blood.
