Gastric erosion, pill camera view. This is inflammation of the stomach lining, which hampers its ability to protect the underlying tissues from stomach acid. This causes pain on eating or drinking, and can cause nausea and vomiting, sometimes with blood in the vomit. In rare cases the stomach may become perforated, which is a medical emergency requiring surgery. Treatment is with antacids or proton pump inhibitors, which neutralise acid or reduce acid production, respectively. A pill camera is a pill-sized camera that is swallowed to image the digestive tract.
