Caption

Hydropneumothorax. Coloured X-ray of the right lung of a patient with hydropneumothorax. Fluid and air (to the left of the bright line) are trapped in the pleural cavity between the lung and the chest wall. Hydropneumothorax may occur due to trauma, infection, an underlying disease or it may occur spontaneously. There is a risk the affected lung will collapse. Treatment is with a chest tube to drain the cavity.
