Caption

Quiver tree (Aloe dichotoma) photographed in Quiver Tree Dolerite Park near Keetmanshoop Namibia. This tree is eaten by the Kudu antelope as it acts as a repellant to parasites when absorbed into the bloodstream. The name quiver tree comes from the bushmen's ancient custom of hollowing out branches to use as quivers to carry their arrows.
