Cardiac liver. Gross specimen of a slice of tissue from a liver affected by heart disease. The liver has the granulated appearance of cirrhosis, where damage causes scarring of the tissue. This damage is here caused by one of two heart diseases. These are chronic constrictive pericarditis (an inflamed heart membrane), or congestive heart failure (the failure of the heart to pump properly).
