Bleeding vascular ectasia (lower left) on the wall of the small intestine, pill camera view. Ectasia is the dilation and distortion of small blood vessels, which makes them prone to rupture. This can cause anaemia, fatigue and blood in the faeces. If the bleeding is localised, the site can be treated by coagulation or cautery. A pill camera is a pill-sized camera that is swallowed to image the digestive tract.
