False-colour scintigram (gamma camera scan) of a sagittal (profile) view of blood flow in the brain in a case of ischaemia - a reduction in blood flow to the brain. Regions of the brain with a normal blood supply appear red; the ischaemic areas are yellow and appear at the top and front of the brain. The colour-coded image is a record of the distribution of a radioactive tracer, introduced into the bloodstream prior to taking the scan, which concentrates in the brain. Compare with P332/039, same technique & section showing normal brain.
