This composite set of 4 axial FLAIR (fluid attenuated inversion recovery) images of the brain shows diffuse, abnormal increased signal (looks whiter than normal) along the cortical surfaces of both cerebral hemispheres and along the surfaces of the cerebellum. This represents diffuse inflammation of the leptomeninges (pia and arachnoid) and the underlying cortex, therefore this is called meningo-encephalitis.
