Refugees fetching water. Women and children carrying empty water containers to be filled. In undeveloped dry areas of the world, people have to walk long distances to get drinking water, or rely on pumps to bring water to the surface from deep underground. These people are inhabitants of a refugee camp in Gulu, Uganda. Northern Uganda is the site of an armed rebellion by the Lord's Resistance Army. The intensity of the conflict has increased since 2002, and many people have been displaced by the fighting. These people often migrate to camps known as displacement persons camps, which house local refugees (called 'internally displaced people').
