Spider naevus on the skin of a person's arm. In general, a naevus is a mass of dilated blood vessels, that most commonly appears as a birthmark the face, for example. Spider naevi, however, appear as a characteristic sign in cases of cirrhosis of the liver. The nose bleeds that appear in some cases of cirrhosis may be due to naevi in the nose.
