Ordinary mole, a type of naevus, located to the left of the nose. A mole is an area of pigment, usually brown, in the skin. Some are flat, others raised with hairs growing from them. Certain moles may become malignant. The term naevus is used to describe a range of birthmarks on the skin, including brown moles. Other types, such as the strawberry mark & the port-wine stain, are composed of blood vessels.
