Mole. Verrucous naevus or mole on the neck of a patient. Verrucous naevi are dark, wart-like lesions that are often linear in shape. Their colour is caused by an abnormality or overactivity of the melanocytes, the skin cells that produce the pigment melanin. Verrucous naevi appear at birth or during early childhood.
