This colour enhanced axial (cross sectional) MRI (magnetic resonance image) of the brain is through the posterior fossa (containing the brainstem and cerebellum). There is a tumor (purple structure) in the left cerebellopontine angle and left internal auditory canal. This tumor is called an Acoustic Schwannoma. It causes unilateral (one sided) hearing loss.
