X-ray showing pulmonary oedema, an accumulation of fluid within the air spaces of the lung. It occurs when congestion is present as a result of heart failure & during glomerulonephritis (a severe disease affecting the kidneys). Symptoms during the onset of the condition include rattling noises during breathing, reddening of the face & increasing difficulty in breathing. The increase of fluid accumulating in the pleural cavity (hydrothorax) may lead to death by drowning if not speedily treated.
