Psoriasis affecting the hairline of a young woman. Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease, the cause of which is still unknown. It affects the elbows, knees, legs, forearms, scalp and other areas of the body, causing red, itchy, scaly patches to develop. The disease is thought to run in families & can be induced by anxiety. It may sometimes occur in association with arthritis. There is no cure and treatment is palliative.
