Petechiae. A rash of petechiae on a woman's leg above the sock line. This rash is caused by bleed- ing of tiny blood capillaries under the surface of the skin. The red dots are called petechiae. There are many different causes of this kind of rash, including: disorders of the blood capillaries; deficiency of blood platelets; and capillary wall damage due to infection, allergy, toxins or malnutrition. Treatment depends on the cause, which in this case was unknown.
