Polyp removal. Endoscope view of a polyp being removed from the lining of the colon. Forceps on the endoscope are being use to cut off the polyp, and the wound will then be sealed by electro- cautery, the application of a high current. Polyps are only removed if they are causing symptoms, although some may turn malignant (cancerous) and so are removed on discovery.
