Psoriasis lesions on the skin of a 35-year-old man. Psoriasis is a common skin disease involving a large increase in the speed of epidermal (outer skin layer) cell production. This has led to the formation of these large lesions of flaking and peeling skin. The affected area may become itchy. The cause of psoriasis is unknown but certain infections, drugs and stress are known to trigger attacks.
