Colon polyp, endoscope view. This polyp (red) is stalked, referring to its pedicle (upper left), a narrow neck of tissue connecting it to the wall of the colon. Polyps are benign growths. If they turn cancerous, or grow large enough to obstruct the colon, they are surgically removed.
