The body cannot shed the cells fast enough, resulting in patches of scaly, thick skin, which are often itchy and may become infected. Psoriasis is thought to be triggered by emotional stress, infections or drugs, although often there is no known cause. Treatment involves emollient creams, phototherapy and drugs to sooth the skin, and avoidance of the cause, if known. For the same foot after treatment with Dovonex, see M240/552.
