Colonic polyp, endoscope view. This polyp is pediculated, attached to the colon lining by a stalk. It is an abnormal growth that can develop on the inner lining of the intestines. In some cases polyps can bleed and cause pain and diarrhoea. Some polyps are also known to turn cancerous later in life. To prevent this, they are often removed surgically.
