Thumb of a 3 year old child who was bitten by her cat 24 hours earlier. The result is probably a Pasteurella multicida paronychial infection. P multocida is a small, gram-negative coccobacillus that exists in the upper respiratory tracts of many livestock and domestic pets. Infections can occur with animal bites.
