Pyoderma ulcer on the finger of a 72 year old man following a kidney transplant. This is a pyoderma gangrenosum, a pus-producing ulcer. It is thought to be an autoimmune disorder, one in which the body's immune system attacks its own tissues. Treatment is with steroids and immunosuppressant drugs, although it can take many months for the ulcer to heal.
