Schizophrenia is a general term for a number of psychotic illnesses characterized by disturbed thinking, emotional reaction and behaviour, in which the sufferer's thoughts and feelings become illogical. Delusions and hallucinations may occur resulting in paranoia and confusion. Schizophrenia is the most common psychotic illness, with inheritance playing a role in its development. Long-term rehabilitation and control is necessary. Alternatively the artwork may show a person with multiple personality disorder.
