Inflamed tonsils at the back of a 16-year-old boy's mouth. This is a case of acute streptococcal tonsillitis, an infection by Streptococcus bacteria that has caused the inflammation of the tonsils. The tonsils are the swollen, patchy white areas at centre left and centre right. Treatment is with antibiotic drugs.
