Caption

Ringworm infection on a 69 year old man's skin. Also known as tinea, this condition can be caused by various fungi, including Microsporum and Trichophyton. This man is immunocompromised, meaning that his immune system's ability to fight infectious diseases is compromised, which makes him vulnerable to opportunistic diseases like ringworm. Ringworm is highly contagious and is spread by direct contact or by contact with contaminated material. Treatment is with anti-fungal drugs.
