Urticaria rash on a patient's body. Also known as nettle rash or hives, this rash of itchy weals develops on the skin, usually on the trunk or limbs, appearing in a matter of minutes and fading after a few hours. Urticaria most often occurs as an acute allergic response, possibly triggered by particular foods or drugs. It can also result from heat, cold, sunlight, stress or, less frequently, other medical conditions like cancer.
