Oesophagus ulcer. Endoscope view of the lower part of the oesophagus (gullet) of a 68 year-old male patient. The patient had complained about difficulty swallowing (dysphagia) as well as pain (odynophagia) while swallowing. The endoscopic examination revealed a circular (circumferential) ulcer (white), which was possibly caused by chronic acid reflux. Treatment would involve anti- acid drugs, but a longer term cure may require a change to working habits (decreasing stress) and a better diet.
