Hay fever. Young boy suffering from hay fever, blows his nose whilst sitting in a garden. Hay fever is also known as allergic rhinitis. It is an inflammation of the mucous membrane that lines the nose, due to an allergy to inhaling substances such as pollen or dust. Symptoms include sneezing, watery eyes, runny nose and nasal congestion. Decongestant and corti- costeroid drugs may be used as a treatment.
