Hay fever. Young girl suffering from hay fever, blows her nose and rubs her eyes whilst sitting in a garden. Hay fever is also known as allergic rhinitis. It is an inflammation of the mucous membrane that lines the nose, due to an allergy to inhaling substances such as pollen or dust. Symptoms include sneezing, watery eyes, runny nose and nasal congestion. Decongest- ant and corticosteroid drugs may be used as a treatment.
