Flu vaccine reaction. Skin inflammation on the arm of a 70-year-old woman in response to a vaccination against influenza. This is an allergic response, triggered by substances in the vaccine. The vaccine against influenza has only a 60-70% success rate and is usually only provided to the elderly or to people suffering from respiratory or circulatory disease. Allergic inflammation is often left untreated but may be reduced with corticosteroid drugs if severe.
