Caption

False-colour X-ray of a dislocated shoulder. The affected area has been colour enhanced and shows up red. Here, the head of the humerus bone has been pushed out of the shoulder joint and is lying beneath it. This bone would be restored to its normal position by manipulation, which may require a local or general anaesthetic. Dislocation (luxation) of the shoulder is a common sports injury.
