The laceration on the scalp of an elderly woman seen after treatment with a tissue adhesive. Tissue adhesives are used for closure of minor skin wounds and sealing sutured skin wounds. Within twenty seconds of contact with tissue moisture the compound polymerises with an exotermic reaction into a firm adhesive bond. To avoid heat damage the tissue adhesive must be applied very thinly and with the proper technique, because poor aligmment of the skin edges cannot be corrected.
