Metal sutures. View of the metal staples closing a secondary surgical wound on a man's abdomen. Abdominal muscle and fascia (connective tissue) were removed from this incision in order to fill a primary wound which involved tumour removal. The patient was suffering primarily from an acoustic neuroma, a tumour which occurs between the inner ear and the brain.
