Eye dressing. Gloved fingers apply a dressing over the left eye of a male patient. The dressing consists of a thick, oval pad of fabric covering the eye and surrounding skin. It will be held in place by adhesive tape. A dressing may be used to control bleeding, to absorb secretions or to prevent contamination by bacteria or foreign material such as dirt. Dressing are put over the eye to aid recovery from injury or treatment, such as surgery.
