Subungual haematoma. View of a collection of blood under the nail of a patient's big toe (subungual haematoma). The blood has come from blood vessels ruptured in an injury. In most cases, the blood drains naturally after a few days, but sometimes the haematoma may have to be lanced and drained by a doctor.
