Cricket ball injury. Bruised abdomen of a man caused by the impact of a cricket ball. Bruises are caused when small blood vessels near the skin are ruptured, usually due to an impact. Leakage of blood under the skin discolours the affected area, which first appears blue/black, but fades to yellow as the blood pigments are broken down.
