Caption

Fractured fibula. Coloured X-ray of a side view of an ankle and lower leg bones, showing a fractured fibula. The multiple fractures are at upper left. The fibula is the thinner of the two bones found in the lower leg. The other bone, the tibia or shinbone, is seen to the right of the fibula. The ankle is at lower centre. Broken bones are usually treated by being reset into the correct position and held in place by a plaster cast while healing.
