Bruised groin of a 75 year old man five days after an angiography procedure. Bruising is the accumulation of blood in the tissues. As the blood is broken down, its colour changes from red to purple/black (as here) to yellow. Angiography is a procedure in which an X-ray contrast medium is injected into blood vessels to highlight them on an X-ray. It is a common technique used to diagnose blood vessel disorders.
