Caption

Foot-drop in a 45 year old man. This is a condition in which the foot hangs limply from the ankle, making it difficult to walk. In this case, it has been caused by a hip dislocation, which occurred in a car accident. Foot-drop is often caused by damage to a nerve leading to the foot. The dislocated bone may be putting pressure on a nerve here. Treatment of foot-drop is aimed at the cause, although a splint can be attached that holds the foot in the correct position, which makes walking easier.
