Fractured collar bone. Coloured frontal X-ray of a patient's fractured collar bone (clavicle). The fracture is at top centre. The upper arm bone is at left, the spine is at right. The ribs, lungs, and shoulder blade (scapula) are below the collar bone. The collar bone has also been dislocated from the surrounding bones. The fractured parts of the clavicle be will surgically pinned together, and also manipulated back into position. The joint will be rested to allow the bone, and soft tissues such as ligaments, to heal.
