MODEL RELEASED. Bruised ankle. Haematoma (bruise) on the ankle of a 56 year old haemophiliac man after an operation to fix a fractured tibia (shin bone). The fracture is at the knee end of the tibia. Haemophilia is a hereditary disorder in which the blood clots very slowly due to a deficiency in one of the blood coagulation factors. A haematoma is a localised collection of blood caused by bleeding from a ruptured blood vessel. The bleeding can be treated with infusions of blood plasma or concentrated blood clotting factor.
